Manager Lee Duckworth has been busy adding to last season’s squad and with the window now open The Blues are delighted to announce new additions!
First to join is former Blue Steve Warburton. Steve has expressed his delight at re-joining the club and the attacker can’t wait to get started. Also pulling on shirts for Rudheath, Middlewich, Woodley Sports, Eccleshall and Alsager ‘Warby’ is an experienced member of the team.
Joining Steve is James ‘Dixie’ Dean. James joins from Middlewich Town where he earned plaudits for being a creative attacker and scored a number of goals in the Cheshire League as well as for Lostock Gralam. Another local player who has years ahead of him to make an impact. One to watch this year!
Next up is Sean Tierney. Sean is another local and joins after spending last season with Rudheath Social of the Cheshire Leagues premier division. Sean scored a number of important goals for Rudheath and will be looking to make an impact in a blue shirt. He won numerous player of the year awards last year in the Cheshire League.
Ashley Whitehead. Ash is a young Central Defender who had a stint with last seasons Under 21’s. Spending his early days with Crewe Alex, the youngster hopes to build his reputation at lower league with The Blues.
Dean Clarke is a versatile attacking player who won huge plaudits for a cameo appearance in the last game of last season.
Michael Langley – Experienced goal-keeper well known to the Blues fans. Has recently been with Colwyn Bay and Cammell Lairds where his performances earned rave reviews. Despite interest from several teams in our league Michael only wanted to sign for his home town team.
Ryan Mellor – Returning to the club from last season is goal getter Ryan Mellor. His pace and direct play excited the blues fans last year who will be looking for more of the same.
Also signed on this upcoming season:
- Industrious midfielder Aaron Stott
- All action midfielder Harry Brazel
- Tough tackling defender Dave Davies
- Cultured centre back Adam Bayley
- Versatile defender Liam Baker
- Safe hands goal keeper Dale Latham
- Composed centre back Steve Jenyon
Two late signings are firstly one of non-Leagues most prolific goalscorers, Andy Hurst and also striker Sam Cook.
Although Andy has reached the veteran stage at 33 his experience will be invaluable in helping the younger players.
Work commitments restricted Sam’s appearances last season but he has proved to be a player who can create chances out of next to nothing.
“I am absolutely delighted with the players we have managed to keep this year from last year’s squad. They showed the mind-set we looked to adopt and will provide a strong base to add a few further pieces of quality to improve the side this coming year. There will be a few more returning faces announced shortly. A lot of the players received numerous offers from rival clubs both in our league and above, it’s testament to their character and belief in what we are trying to achieve here that has kept them with the club”
