Player Profiles: New Signings

Winsford United are pleased to announce the following players have signed for the blues for the forthcoming season.

Liam Collins

Tell us about where you have played previously?

Locally i’ve played for Sandbach & Middlewich. Played semi pro in Australia and at Uni in Leeds!

What do you think you will bring to the team this season?

Hopefully some more goals and assists than last year! I probably assist more than i score but would be good to get a few of both this year!

What were your thoughts on last season as a team and as an individual?

As a team i thought we could of done better, we had a good cup run though which! Individually i was disappointed for the most part. I started fairly well and had the odd decent game here and there but didn’t really get going after Christmas with injuries and what not. I hope to offer a lot more this year!!

What are your hopes for next season?

We’ve brought in some quality players and the team spirit is probably the best i’ve been involved in, so hopefully we can kick on and finish much higher in the league. Another good FA cup run would be lovely as well..

Why did you choose Winsford Utd?

Well i’m a local lad and it’s nice to play for your local team. But having enjoyed last year so much and with the quality we’ve added to the squad it was a no brainer when Ducko Kev an Ticks wanted to sign me again!!

Duckos comments:

Liam has a wealth of ability. Last season he was finding his feet and showed glimpses of what he can do throughout. I’m sure this season will be a big season for him.

Jordan Johnson

Tell us about where you have played previously?

Nantwich, Kidsgrove, Market Drayton, Alsager &1874 northwich.

What do you think you will bring to the team this season?

Hopefully bring more goals and assists to the team.

What were your thoughts on last season as a team and as an individual?

As a team last season was a mixed bag we had a good start to the season then lost our way abit then the unbeaten run was brilliant to be apart of and we lost our way again towards the end of the season . As an individual it was great for me it was the first time in a few seasons where I could fully commit every weekend which got me enjoying my football again which is brilliant and it’s also good to get over the 20 goal mark.

What are your hopes for next season?

Hopefully this season we can improve on last season hopefully finish higher up the table and add some consistency to our game and push on.

Why did you choose Winsford Utd?

The reason why I chose winsford united  it’s my hometown so it’s great to represent winsford  , also ducko tick and Kev and the lads create a great atmosphere and its a great team to be apart.

Duckos comments:

JJ started slow last season but then he found his fitness and then there was no stopping him. Powerful and strong he will prove to be a thorn in the side again to many a defence this season and I’m sure he will guarantee us goals. Great to have him on board.

Adam Clayton

Previous clubs?

Witton Albion, Eccleshall, Sandbach United, Barnton.

What will you bring to WUFC?

I’m a fullback that can play comfortably on both sides of the pitch. I like to use my pace getting forward and I enjoy throwing a tackle in when I can. I’ve got experience at this level and I always give 100% to every club I represent.

Hopes for this season?

On a personal level I want to establish myself in this team as soon as possible and contribute to our success as much as I can.
I hope next season we can challenge in all of the cup competitions we are involved in and finish as high up the table as possible. I’m exited to play in the FA Cup, I’d love a good run in that, who wouldn’t?!

Why WUFC?

From the first pre season session I came to I knew Winsford was the place I wanted to play my football next season. The coaches put on some great sessions and I feel I can learn from them and improve my game at this club. When I got told the manager wanted to sign me I couldn’t turn the opportunity down. There’s a squad of great lads and I can’t wait to get started!

Ducks comments:

Adam has come down and done very well in training. He has worked hard and shown great enthusiasm. He put in two assured performances in the games so I believe he will be a good addition to the squad this season.

Perry Bircumshaw

Previous clubs?

I spent the previous season at local team Saxons FC and went on to win the Crewe and district league with them. Previous to this I made a few appearances for Middlewich football club as well as Cuddington.

What will you bring to WUFC?

I hope to bring some pace and quality into the squad and to make an impact on the team .

Hopes for this season?

Next season is all about challenging myself and gaining experience playing at that level, I feel like I can learn a lot from the players that are there as well as from the management.

Why WUFC?

I chose Winsford because it’s my home town and it’s a huge step up from the league I have previously played in and I’m excited to get myself involved! (And because my dad got me in) – “alleged Dad”

Duckos comments:

Pez did well in a few cameos last season so it was always in my mind to get him own this summer. He is lightning quick with an eye for goal and I’m sure he will quickly settle at this level. One to watch. Much better than his dad and he talks more sense!

Danny Hudson

Previous clubs:

Bury, Hyde, Mosley and Radcliffe borough

What do you think you will bring to the team this season?

This year I hope to bring not only goals to the team but also to be involved in a lot of them aswell.

What were your thoughts on last season as a team and as an individual?

As an Individual last season I had quite a difficult season due to injuries. But as a team we had a great run in the fa cup which I hope we can do again and there no reason why we can’t go further and the run that was put together by the boys was class so let’s have that as a bench mark and go one better this season.

What are your hopes for next season?

For this coming season we should at least be  challenging to get into that top cluster of the league and also getting to a final of one of the cups would be a great achievement.

Why did you choose Winsford Utd?

I’ve choose to return to winsford again this season as the lads and banter in the changing is the best I’ve been around.

Duckos comments:

Fantastic to get Danny back involved. Last season was very stop and start for him but we know the quality he has and now his injury problems are hopefully behind him he can show the supporters what an exciting player he is.
