In the last couple of weeks, Arron Kirk, Jack Burton & Chris Middleton have signed for the club. Welcome to Winsford United lads!
We caught up with manager Lee Duckworth regarding his recent signings:
Arron Kirk – Midfield
‘Arron is a top class footballer, comfortable in possession where ever he is on the field. I’ve tried a few times to get Arron to join the club as he has all the attributes we look for when looking to dictate the tempo of football matches. His control and range of passing is superb so I look forward to seeing him help us develop as we take the team forward.’
Jack Burton – Goalkeeper
‘Jack is an excellent local goalkeeper who will help provide cover for Michael and push him all the way. His attitude is a credit to him. He is also very comfortable with the ball at his feet.’
Chris Middleton – Defense
Chris is a tough tackling defender who we were absolutely delighted to get on board. He had the option of a number of clubs over the past 2 weeks but decided on Winsford. He likes to bring the ball out an play which is an ethos we have tried to install in the team, so he will be a real asset for the club. Our thanks to Ken Mead at Congleton Town for helping get this over the line.
As a management team we have recognised we needed to strengthen. The injury list we have had over the past 8-10 weeks has been unlike anything I have ever seen in football. We have lost some key individuals and very often meant we were short in key positions going into tough fixtures. We have identified the new raft of signings to help address this balance and once everyone is again back fit it will certainly add competition for places.
The message at the minute is, watch this space as there are more to follow, but we can also announce the following signings with pictures to follow:
– Sam Riley – Exciting quick winger who has returned to the club after a spell playing professionally in Australia.
– Josh Perry – A quick intelligent defender who is comfortable at Centre back or right back, recommended very highly by a number of people in football.
– The return of Dale Jennings from Mossley – Great to have Dale back, non-stop running and battling with real quality on the ball.
On the injury front, we have the following players who are close to a return to fitness:
– James Rothwell
– Brandon Moores
– Nathan Cotterill
– Robbie Hatton
– Elliot Hull
C’mon you blues
